Artificial grass makes a concrete balcony softer, cooler to stand on than bare tile in the morning sun, and far more inviting for kids and pets. But balconies come with rules that yards don't, so start with your association. Ask whether floor coverings are allowed and whether they need product details.
Drainage is the main technical concern. Balconies are sloped toward drains or scuppers, and turf must not block that path. We use perforated turf and, where needed, a drainage underlay so water keeps moving to the existing drains.
We never drill into a balcony deck. The turf is cut precisely around railings, posts, and door thresholds and secured at the edges, so it stays put in the wind but can be lifted out if the building ever needs to service the deck.
Most balcony installs take a few hours. Maintenance is a quick brush and an occasional rinse.
